Generally, this is functionality of paid version
it would be nice to choose from which account (Gmail, Outlook, Facebook ) we want to display the birthdates

For instance I'd' like to only have my Gmail contacts displayed but not my Outlook and Facebook contacts.

please check and optimize wake locks

pls. check wake locks in GLite cos the app keeps my phone from going asleep at least 15 Min. on every notification due to the following wake lock: BREMINDER_WAKELOCK_NO_SLEEP

Filter and notify only some user categories (based on contact groups).

Add the possibility to filter and notify only some contact groups. It will allowed to notify only "Family" and "Friends" but not "Work" for example.
